What Major Autohemotherapy Is and How Medical-Grade Ozone Is Used
Major Autohemotherapy — MAH — is a procedure in which a measured volume of your own blood is drawn into a sterile container, mixed with medical-grade ozone, and then returned to you through the same intravenous line. Typically around 200 ml of blood is used and the whole thing takes 60 to 90 minutes as an outpatient appointment.
The blood visibly brightens as it takes up oxygen. That color change is the most commonly demonstrated part of the procedure, and it is exactly what it looks like — oxygenation. It is not evidence of a therapeutic effect.
MAH is the only ozone procedure we offer. You will see other routes advertised elsewhere — EBOO, ten-pass, prolozone, insufflation, ozonated saline. We do not provide them, and we mention them only so you can tell the difference when comparing clinics.

Four Questions Worth Asking Any Ozone Therapy Clinic
Google’s own People Also Ask results for ozone therapy are sourced to the FDA, the EPA, the Cleveland Clinic and the NIH — every one of them a caution. That tells you what to ask before you book anywhere, including here.
01
Which route do you use?
MAH, EBOO, ten-pass, prolozone and insufflation are different procedures with different risk profiles, and clinics often blur them together under the single word ‘ozone’. We offer MAH and nothing else. A clinic that cannot answer this crisply is not the clinic for a procedure like this.
02
Do you inject ozone gas directly into a vein?
The correct answer is no. Direct intravenous ozone gas carries a risk of air embolism. In MAH the gas never enters you — it is combined with blood outside the body and the blood is what returns.
03
Do you screen for G6PD deficiency?
This is the contraindication that matters most for ozone, because the enzyme deficiency leaves red cells vulnerable to breaking down under oxidative stress. It is a reasonable thing to expect a clinic to raise before you do.
04
What do you claim it treats?
If the answer is a list of named diseases, that claim has no regulator behind it. Our answer is that we do not claim it treats any disease — which is a less exciting answer and a more accurate one.
What Medical-Grade Ozone Actually Is
Three facts about the gas itself, none of which are in dispute. The disagreement is about what ozone therapy does in the body, not about what the gas is.
Three oxygen atoms, not two
Ozone is O₃ — an unstable molecule of three oxygen atoms, as against the O₂ you breathe. That instability is the entire basis of its chemical reactivity, and it is also why it cannot be stored: it has to be generated at the point of use.
Made from medical oxygen, on site
A medical ozone generator passes pure oxygen through an electrical discharge, producing a measured oxygen-ozone mixture. The output is a concentration, expressed in micrograms per milliliter, and it is set deliberately rather than assumed.
Toxic to breathe, which is the whole point of route
The EPA is unambiguous that ozone is a lung irritant, and that is not controversial. It is precisely why route discipline matters in ozone therapy more than anywhere else on this site: in MAH the gas contacts blood in a container and is never inhaled.
What the Evidence Does and Does Not Support
The part every other page on this search leaves out. These are the positions of the agencies that regulate this, quoted rather than paraphrased.
Source
Position
US FDA, 21 CFR 801.415
Ozone is “a toxic gas with no known useful medical application in specific, adjunctive, or preventive therapy”
US EPA
States that ozone is unauthorised for medical therapy and is a toxic lung irritant, lacking proof for treating disease
Cleveland Clinic
Lists respiratory toxicity and risk from medical misuse among the principal disadvantages of ozone treatment
Published literature
Small studies exist, largely in musculoskeletal and inflammatory contexts. Large, high-quality trials do not
We provide MAH because patients ask for it, under physician oversight and informed consent. We do not claim it treats any disease, and any clinic telling you it treats serious named diseases is making a claim no regulator supports.
“If a clinic tells you ozone treats a named disease, you have learned something useful about the clinic rather than about ozone.”
How to read an ozone therapy website
Who Is a Candidate for MAH Ozone Therapy — and Who Is Not
Screening happens before anything is scheduled, not on the day.
Reasonable to consider it if
You are an adult in generally good health, you have realistic expectations about what it may and may not do, you understand it is self-pay and unproven, and you are comfortable giving informed consent on that basis.
We will decline if
You have G6PD deficiency — a genuine contraindication for ozone, since it can trigger red cell breakdown. Also uncontrolled hyperthyroidism, pregnancy, active bleeding or a clotting disorder, anticoagulant therapy without clearance, recent heart attack or stroke, or severe anemia. And if you are pursuing ozone instead of treatment for a diagnosed condition, we will say so plainly.
Why This Page Reads Differently From Other Ozone Pages
If you have been reading around ozone therapy, this page will strike you as unusually cautious. That is deliberate, and it is worth explaining rather than leaving you to wonder whether we are simply less confident than the competition.
Ozone is the one service where the marketing convention in this industry and the position of every regulator point in opposite directions. Sites routinely list serious named diseases that ozone therapy is claimed to treat. The FDA’s published position is that ozone has no known useful medical application. Both of those things cannot be true, and we are not going to resolve the tension by choosing the version that sells better.
So we describe the procedure accurately, we publish the regulatory position in full, we screen properly, and we let you decide with the actual information in front of you. If that costs us a booking to a clinic making bigger promises, that is a trade we are comfortable with.
How Your MAH Ozone Session Works, Step by Step
Three stages, all in one appointment.
01
Blood draw
A measured volume of your blood is drawn through an IV line into a sterile, single-use container. Between 100 and 200 ml is typical.
02
Ozone mixing
Medical-grade ozone gas is introduced and gently combined with the blood. The color brightens as it oxygenates.
03
Reinfusion
The treated blood is returned to you through the same line. Total appointment time is usually 60 to 90 minutes, and you leave straight afterwards.
Ozone Therapy Safety, Screening and Physician Oversight
Ozone is a genuinely toxic gas when inhaled — that is not a controversial statement, it is the position of the EPA and several state health departments. The safety of MAH depends entirely on route: the gas is combined with blood outside the body and never inhaled or injected directly.
That is precisely why route discipline matters, and why we do not offer ozone by any other method. Direct intravenous ozone gas can cause air embolism. We do not do it, and you should be cautious of anyone who does.
Every case is screened by a clinician beforehand, with particular attention to G6PD status, thyroid function, clotting and cardiac history. Informed consent here is a real conversation about an unproven therapy — not a form pushed across a desk.
Before Your Session and After It
Practical preparation for ozone therapy, with nothing promised about the outcome.
Before you come in
Eat a normal meal and drink water beforehand — this involves a blood draw and the usual advice for one applies. Bring a current list of your medications and supplements, including anything blood-thinning. If you have ever been told you have G6PD deficiency, or you have a family history of it, say so at screening rather than on the day. Allow longer than the appointment itself for your first visit.
Afterwards
Most people go straight back to their day; there is no sedation and nothing to recover from. Keep drinking water and go easy on hard exercise for the rest of the day. Some people report feeling tired that evening. If you develop anything that concerns you — breathlessness, chest pain, dark urine, unusual bruising — contact us and seek medical attention rather than waiting for the next appointment.
How MAH Differs From EBOO and Other Ozone Routes
MAH — 100 to 200 ml of blood, mixed with ozone, returned. This is what we offer.
EBOO (extracorporeal blood oxygenation and ozonation) circulates a much larger volume continuously through a filter. It is a substantially bigger procedure and considerably more expensive. We do not offer it.
Ten-pass repeats the draw-and-return cycle up to ten times under pressure. Prolozone injects ozone into joints or soft tissue. Insufflation introduces gas rectally or vaginally. Ozonated saline infuses ozone-treated fluid. None of these are offered here — they are listed so you can tell exactly what you are being quoted for elsewhere.
The Physician Oversight Behind Every Ozone Session
This is the treatment on our menu with the least supporting evidence and the most regulatory attention, so it carries the most oversight. Protocols are approved by our medical director, screening is clinician-led, and the procedure is performed by a Florida-licensed registered nurse.
We would rather lose the booking than make a claim we cannot support. That is the whole basis on which this clinic operates, and ozone is where it gets tested.
Medical director: Dr Stephen Jones — board-certified general surgeon since 2016, Northeast Ohio Medical University. Founder and lead nurse: Erica Barshay, RN BSN.
What MAH Ozone Therapy Costs and Why Insurance Does Not Cover It
Ozone therapy is never covered by health insurance. Major insurers classify it as unproven, alternative or experimental, and that classification is consistent across the industry. Every session is self-pay.
Current pricing is published in full alongside the rest of our menu. An initial consultation and screening is required before a first session.
Ozone Therapy Questions Lakewood Ranch Patients Ask Most
A procedure where roughly 200 ml of your own blood is drawn, mixed with medical-grade ozone, and returned through the same IV line. It takes 30 to 45 minutes as an outpatient appointment.
The honest answer is that it is not established. The FDA states ozone has no known useful medical application in specific, adjunctive or preventive therapy. Small studies exist; large high-quality trials do not. We offer MAH under informed consent, not as a treatment for any disease.
Inhaled ozone is genuinely toxic — that is not in dispute. MAH avoids that route entirely by mixing gas with blood outside the body. The main safety work is screening: G6PD deficiency, thyroid, clotting and cardiac history all matter.
No. Insurers classify it as unproven or experimental without exception. It is self-pay.
Pricing is published with the rest of our menu. Be aware that quotes elsewhere vary enormously because different clinics are quoting for entirely different procedures — MAH, ten-pass and EBOO are not the same thing.
That depends on the individual and is decided clinically. We do not sell courses up front, and we would be skeptical of anyone who does.
No. We offer MAH only. Other routes are described on this page so you can compare clinics accurately, not because they are available here.
No. They are entirely different. Oxygen therapy delivers pure oxygen; ozone is a different molecule with a different — and far more contested — rationale.
