What you are paying extra for is not the drip. It is a nurse’s travel, setup and pack-down time, which is why mobile IV therapy costs meaningfully more than the same treatment in a chair in Bradenton. We would rather explain that than have it look like a convenience surcharge.

In Florida, an IV is a medical procedure regardless of the postcode it happens in.
What the law requires
IV therapy must be administered by a licensed medical professional — in practice a registered nurse — working under physician supervision and a standing order or delegated protocol. That does not change because the treatment happens in a living room instead of a clinic.
What to ask any mobile provider
Who exactly is coming, what license do they hold, which physician approved the protocol, and what happens if you react badly. A provider who cannot answer those four questions quickly is not one you want putting a line in your arm at home.
Who Should Not Receive a Mobile IV
The same clinical exclusions as in the clinic: congestive heart failure, kidney disease and severe liver disease all need clearance from the doctor managing them, because fluid overload is a real risk.
There is also a location-specific one. If your history means a reaction is more likely — a previous infusion reaction, significant allergies, an unstable cardiac history — a clinic is the safer setting and we will say so. Convenience is not worth much if it puts you an ambulance ride from help.
